Faith Based Partnerships

“In Habitat’s work, building homes for those in need,
we saw the opportunity – as so many others have –
to put our faith into practice.”

…Jimmy Carter

“Faith without works is as dead as a doornail.”

…Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity International

We at the Dacotah Tipis affiliate of Habitat for Humanity ask that you take this philosophy to heart with partnerships of financial gifts, volunteer groups, and special offerings.

As a Christian housing ministry,  Habitat for Humanity maintains unique relationships with churches and members of congregations. In many ways we serve as an extension of the Church – meeting in tangible ways the real needs of men, women, and children in our community. By the same token, churches serve as an extension of the Habitat mission by providing volunteers and donors within their ranks the missions opportunities they seek.

Partner congregations generally find their involvement:

  • Provides an external project upon which the members of the church can collectively focus – an exercise which always helps to strengthen congregational passion, unity, and community.
  • Allows church leadership to model the biblical call to give ourselves away to the cause of Christ in service to our fellow man.
We encourage all faith based groups to help us via regular financial gifts but we are more than pleased to receive an offering at any time. There are numerous ways for groups within your organizations to become involved with a Habitat project including fundraising, and making or gathering house warming gifts for the Habitat family such as bedding, towels, dishes, toiletries etc.

Faith-based communities and coalitions of faith-based organizations sponsor homes and portions of builds by providing a combination of direct funding, in-kind donations of materials and services, and volunteer labor from within their ranks.
